RET
RET is the public transport company that provides public transport services in the city of Rotterdam and its periphery. It operates five metro lines, 10 tram lines, 58 bus routes and a fastferry service. It predecessor was founded in 1878. RET is the main operator in the area and also maintains the rail infrastructure.

On a daily basis, almost 600,000 people use RET’s public transport services. Rotterdam is the second largest city in the Netherlands and largest maritime port in Europe. The population of the city was around 615,000 inhabitants in 2012, whereas the greater Rotterdam area is home to more than 1.2 million people.
