To purchase a transport ticket you need a personal MOBIB-card or a MOBIB Basic card. This reload card allows you to travel easily around Brussels. Some transport tickets are also available on a contactless ticket.

Personal MOBIB-card
What is a personal MOBIB card?
The personal MOBIB is a named card on which you can reload every type of fare, season tickets included. This MOBIB card is strictly personal, so you cannot lend it to a third party. It allows you to purchase every type of transport ticket: season ticket, JUMP 10 journeys, return trips, etc.
How much does a MOBIB card cost and where can I buy it?
A MOBIB card costs € 5 and has a validity period of 5 years as from the date of purchase. After this validity period, your MOBIB card has to be renewed.
It can be bought in a BOOTIK or by using or online tool MyBOOTIK. If you wish to buy a personal MOBIB card, you will need your electronic identity card (eID) and €5. If you don’t have an eID or if you would like a more recent picture than the one on your eID, please bring an identity picture.
Where can I buy tickets to load on a MOBIB card?
The personal MOBIB card can be reloaded in the various sales outlets of STIB-MIVB: BOOTIK, KIOSK, GO Easy, GO, SHOP. You can load up to 8 different tickets.
- On a GO vending machine: place your card on the holder of the machine. The available tickets appear on the screen. Spin the control wheel of the GO vending machine to select your ticket. Confirm, pay and it's done!
- In a staffed sales outlet (KIOSK, BOOTIK or SHOP): give your card to the sales agent who will then proceed for you.
- On GO easy: create an account or sign in and follow the instructions on the screen.
How can I use my MOBIB card?
The MOBIB card is easy to use. If you want to travel on the STIB-MIVB network, never forget to validate your transport ticket. To validate, simply hold the card in front of the IOI of the validator.
* to travel from the Airport zone with a MOBIB (personal or Basic) card, only the Go2City tickets are valid.
MOBIB Basic card
What is a MOBIB Basic card?
The MOBIB Basic is an anonymous and reloadable card. You can only load transport tickets, not nominative tickets or season tickets. The MOBIB Basic card is anonymous, so you are free to lend it to a third party. It is ideal for groups and organisations.
How much does a MOBIB Basic card cost and where can I buy it?
A MOBIB Basic card costs € 5 and has a validity period of 5 years as from the date of purchase. After this validity period, your MOBIB card has to be renewed.
It can be bought in a KIOSK or a BOOTIK. The purchase of this card does not require any administrative formality.
How can I buy tickets with a MOBIB card?

You can load all type of transport tickets on a MOBIB Basic card: 1 Journey, 10 Journeys, JUMP 24h. Do you want to buy a season ticket? In that case, you will need a personal MOBIB card.

Paper ticket
The STIB-MIVB offers you 4 mobility solutions in the shape of contactless paper tickets. These are convenient if you only use public transport once in a while or if you occasionally have to go to the airport..
What are the characteristics of a contactless paper ticket?
- They need to be validated on a MOBIB validating machine.
- They can not be reused .
- No support in case of a technical defect if the ticket has already been successfully validated.

Can I obtain an invoice for my purchase?
Public transport companies are exempt from delivering invoices due to the special circumstances in which public transport companies issue their transport tickets.
There are no invoices delivered for professional journeys. It is, however, possible to get a proof of payment when purchasing your ticket in a sales outlet, or afterwards if you bought a season ticket.
