New intermodal Carsoel bridge open in Saint-Job
A larger, more comfortable and greener space
Published on
The new Carsoel bridge at Gare de Saint-Job/Station Sint-Job is now open. It is larger, greener, and more accessible, and improves the mobility of all transport modes.
The new Carsoel bridge was built to improve accessibility: larger pavements, facilitated paths, secured zones and more space for all users.
A bridge that changes mobility
The old bridge of 1928 has been replaced by a structure that is four times larger. The new, straighter road improves traffic for trams and buses, while pedestrians enjoy safer and more comfortable pavements.
This project is the result of a collaboration between Infrabel, SNCB-NMBS, STIB-MIVB, Brussels Mobility and Beliris, in agreement with the municipality of Uccle and supported by the European Recovery and Resilience Facility.
Before & after
More comfort for everybody
The bridge brings together trains, trams, buses, cars, bikes and pedestrians in a completely redesigned space. New relaxation zones, green landscapes, and improved accesses make this public space more pleasant and convenient for travellers and inhabitants.

The bridge decorated by local schools
This new public space also welcomes a local artistic touch.
Three schools from Uccle have created a collective mural dedicated to sustainable mobility. The project is made up of 15 mosaic tiles, designed and installed by primary school students.
The bridge is a transit point, but also a space for creativity and awareness for climatic and mobility challenges.
