Article 1 – Scope of these conditions and contact details of the company
These general terms and conditions apply to all remote purchases of a transport ticket made by you as a user of the STIB’s website or mobile application (both referred to as « the Platform »). The purchase of a ticket on the mobile application implies the creation of a user account.

In addition to the address set forth above, STIB-MIVB may be contacted as follows:
- By phone (Customer care): +32 (0)2 563 89 17
- By the website: www.stib.brussels
Article 2 – Legal capacity
By purchasing a ticket through this Platform, you acknowledge that :
- you are able to enter into contractual agreements under the civil code.
- you assume liability for any financial transactions concerning the use of this Platform, including those made on behalf of a third party.
Article 3 – Acceptance of STIB-MIVB conditions
By purchasing a ticket through this Platform, you acknowledge that you have read and accepted these terms and conditions of sales prior to purchase.
The Rules of Transport of STIB-MIVB shall also apply. By using the STIB-MIVB network, you acknowledge that you have read the said Rules of Transport and agree to comply with them unreservedly. These rules are available online via the following link.
Article 4 – Order
Before confirming your order, you need to ensure that the chosen product corresponds with your indications and meets your requirements (product type, validity period, personal information, etc.).
You are solely responsible for choosing the type of transport ticket you buy, taking into account your personal situation. No modifications or refunds will be made except in the cases provided for in our Rules of transport.
Article 5 - No right of withdrawal
Pursuant to Article VI.53, 12° of the Belgian Code of Economic Law, you have no right to cancel the purchase of your transport ticket.
Article 6 - Price and accepted payment methods
Prices are determined by decree of the Brussels government, published in the Belgian Official Gazette and available on the STIB website (hereinafter “the Fares Decree”). The prices of transport tickets and other mobility products are inclusive of VAT.
In the event of a price change, the applicable price depends on the product in question. For service tickets, the purchase date determines the applicable price. For season tickets, the start date can be freely chosen, taking into account a maximum of two months in the future. The price is the one in effect on the first day of validity of the season ticket, it being understood that payment for a season ticket is always made in advance.
The accepted payment methods are those mentioned on the Platform used.
Article 7 - Refusal of order
The STIB reserves the right to refuse or suspend an order or to make it subject to additional conditions if:
- the information provided at the time of the request looks incomplete or incorrect,
- the STIB suspects some form of fraud or deceit, for example when the customer’s identity is doubtful or potentially incorrect.
Article 8 - Purchase and issuance of the transport ticket
The purchase of a transport ticket on the STIB-MIVB mobile application is achieved by the creation of a digital transport ticket within the application itself, and is confirmed by the sending of an email summarizing the order. To be valid, this ticket will need to be activated in the application before boarding a vehicle.
The purchase of a transport ticket or season ticket through the STIB-MIVB website is made by the reloading of your MOBIB card and is confirmed by the sending of an email summarizing the order. The MOBIB card can be recharged online in two ways:
- either by using an eID card reader. In this case, the recharge is immediate and the MOBIB card will be operational immediately. It can be validated without delay at all validators;
- or by using the MOBIB card number. In this case, the card will not be operational immediately. After 24 hours, you will be able to load the chosen transport ticket(s) onto your MOBIB card either by going to one of our GO sales machines or by presenting your card in front of any of our validators in metro station. If you wish to load your transport ticket onto your card via a validator on a bus or tram, you will have to wait 4 days.
