Transparency

Every year, you can find out more about how STIB-MIVB works, and its competences and management bodies in its transparency reports. This way, whether you are a traveller, a stakeholder or an interested reader, you can stay up to date with the ins and outs of our organisation.

Competences and organisational structure

Responsibility and commitment

STIB-MIVB has been operating public transport in the Brussels Region since 1954. Each day, some 1,300 vehicles serve the 19 municipalities of the Brussels-Capital Region, as well as 11 suburban municipalities. It covers an area of 241.5 km², with more than 1 million Brussels travellers and thousands of commuters every year.

There will always be many challenges awaiting us. And we want to tackle them with effective service and a sustainable organisational structure. This is why we opted for an organisational and operational model with 5 departments that ensure the success of STIB-MIVB:

  1. Thanks to the Operations Division, the STIB-MIVB network is expanding. It manages all operational missions.
  2. The Transport Systems Division regroups all technical and IT services.
  3. To keep up with the changing needs of our travellers, the Sales, Marketing & Network Division defines and promotes the transport offer so as to provide a better service to our customers.
  4. Budget, purchase and building management, logistical support, and legal expertise is in the hands of the Finance & Services Division.
  5. The Human Resources Division watches over the recruitment strategy, and the work of our (future) colleagues and how it can be improved.

The five Divisions are under the leadership of Senior Vice Presidents. And together with General Management, they form the Executive Committee, which has the authority to take strategic decisions at corporate level. The Management Committee is responsible for decisions at divisional level.

Management bodies

STIB-MIVB also has two management bodies:

  1. The Comité de Gestion/Beheerscomité has the high executive power to manage STIB-MIVB. The permanent staff representatives who sit on it have an advisory capacity.
  2. The Board of Directors defines our budgets, concludes management contracts with the regional government and approves collective agreements.

Rapports et annexes

Transparency report

Every year, STIB-MIVB publishes a transparency report on the remuneration and benefits of its public mandate holders. By publishing that report, it complies with the circular of 20 November 2018 on the application of the new joint ordinance to the Brussels-Capital Region and the Common Community Commission of 14 December 2017.

Subsidies

Each year, we publish a financial report. In it, we record the following information:

  • Our statutory annual accounts in accordance with Belgian accounting law and the Companies and Associations Code.
  • Operating and investment accounts breaking down expenses and income according to their purpose.

Studies

In 2023, STIB-MIVB did not carry out any studies, as stipulated in the ordinance of 16 May 2019.

Public contracts

Every year we create an inventory of public contracts. You can also consult them on the Brussels Region's Open Data portal.
