School Commuting Plan

Collaboration for mobility

A recent study highlighted the fact that school transit amounts to 20 per cent of traffic during peak hours.

For this reason, we feel that every effort should be made to promote and sustain the sustainable management of commuter transportation to schools.

Priority areas

Three priority areas have been outlined through our combined Mobility networks:

  • To support efforts to raise the awareness amongst pupils, parents and teachers about mobility and road safety;
  • To improve safety and quality of life on the way to and from school;
  • To change commuting routines.

The goal is not only to improve safety conditions on the road to and in the vicinity of schools that are subscribing to this approach but also to enable students to make responsible choices when travelling.
