The first new entrance is planned for summer 2027

A lift to the metro, a new entrance in the park: Hôtel des Monnaies/Munthof is becoming more accessible. The first improvements are due in summer 2027.
A station that grows with you
Hôtel des Monnaies/Munthof is getting a new look. And not just visually: two lifts and new entrances will make your journeys easier. While this work takes place, you can keep on traveling by metro.
More comfort, from street to platforms
Travelling with a pushchair? Carrying a heavy suitcase? Or finding stairs difficult? Two new lifts will take you straight from the street to the platforms. There’ll be one for each direction of travel.
A new entrance in the park
The station is changing on the Porte de Hal/Hallepoort side too. A new pavilion in the park will house a lift and an entrance to the platform towards Louise/Louiza. Your metro journey will soon start right in the park.
At this end of the station, we’re turning existing emergency exits into passenger entrances. That means more ways to reach the metro, including when you’re heading to Saint-Pierre/Sint-Pieters hospital.
Tomorrow’s station is taking shape
Behind the barriers, the future station is taking shape, step by step. We’re currently building the foundations for the extension. Next come the new spaces, entrances and lifts.
The first new entrance on the Porte de Hal/Hallepoort side is planned to open in summer 2027. The second will follow in early 2028. Both lifts linking the street directly to the platforms are also planned to be in service by then.
What’s coming?
- Two lifts to the platforms: easier access to the metro in both directions.
- New entrances: more ways to enter and leave the station.
- A pavilion in the park: a covered entrance with a lift to the platform towards Louise/Louiza.
Your metro keeps running
Good news: Hôtel des Monnaies/Munthof stays open throughout the works. All existing entrances remain open too.
From mid-November 2026, we’ll close off part of the platform’s far end for the works. You’ll still be able to get on and off through every metro door.
