Works in rue du Bailli/Baljuwstraat: interruption of tram 81 and diversion of buses 54 and 96.

Because of reconstruction works in rue du Bailli/Baljuwstraat, bus line 54 is diverted between the stops Ma Campagne and Bailli/Baljuw, via place Paul Janson/Paul Jansonplein and rue Defacqz/Defacqzstraat. 

New phase as from Monday 26 January 2026: 

  • Tram 81 is interrupted between Avenue du Roi/Koningslaan and Trinité/Drievuldigheid, and diverted from Avenue du Roi/Koningslaan to Wiels 
  • Bus 96 provides a connection between the 2 parts of tram 81 at Wiels and at Trinité/Drievuldigheid. 
  • Bus 54 is still diverted between the stops Ma Campagne and Bailli/Baljuw.

Works

Rue du Bailli/Baljuwstraat is getting a makeover: a brand-new tram infrastructure, a redesigned public space, and calmer traffic. A real breath of fresh air for the neighbourhood!  

The works take place on the section between avenue Louise/Louizalaan and rue de Livourne/Livornostraat. They have an impact on the service of bus line 54 and bus line 96, which temporarily replaces trams 81 (partially) and 97. 

Tram 81

Tram 81 is interrupted between Avenue du Roi/Koningslaan and Trinité/Drievuldigheid. It runs in 2 parts: Marius Renard – Wiels and Montgomery – Trinité/Drievuldigheid.  

Marius Renard – Wiels 

The trams run as usual up to Avenue du Roi/Koningslaan and continue to Wiels via the route of tram 82 after. At Wiels you can continue your journey to Trinité/Drievuldigheid with temporary bus 96. 

Taking the tram at Avenue du Roi/Koningslaan? Remember to board at the tram 82 stop, avenue Fonsny/Fonsnylaan 

Montgomery – Trinité/Drievuldigheid 

At Trinité/Drievuldigheid you can continue your journey to Wiels with temporary bus 96. At Wiels you can switch to tram 81 direction Marius Renard. 

Heading to Montgomery by tram?  Remember to board at the stop Trinité/Drievuldigheid direction Marius Renard. The latter is the tram's terminus. 

Temporary bus line 96

Temporary bus line 96 runs between Trinité/Drievuldigheid and Charroi/Gerij, replacing tram lines 81 and 97. 

It provides a connection to tram 81 at the Wiels and Trinité/Drievuldigheid stops.

  • Combaz: avenue du Parc/Parklaan, in front of number 85

Bus 54 is diverted between stops Ma Campagne and Bailli/Baljuw, via place Paul Janson/Paul Jansonplein and rue Defacqz/Defacqzstraat.

  • Janson: rue Defacqz/Defacqzstraat 146, replacing Trinité/Drievuldigheid

  • Bailli/Baljuw: traffic island in avenue Louise/Louizalaan, between rue du Bailli/Baljuwstraat and rue Lesbroussart/Lesbroussartstraat
