Need to buy a STIB-MIVB ticket and don’t know which one to choose or how to buy it? Follow this guide to find the best option for your trip, whether you are travelling for work or leisure, alone or with multiple people.
Contactless payment
For occasional use, the easiest and fastest solution is to use your bank card as a ticket. It’s even 0.50€ cheaper than a paper ticket!
When is this ticket right for you?
For short visits, events, and business trips.
How to buy it?
No separate purchase needed: simply tap your bank card on the grey validating machine located on buses, trams and in stations.
You can also use your smartphone or smartwatch if you have a “Wallet” app such as Apple Pay, Google Pay or Garmin Pay.
Advantages
No need to prepare your journey or to find your way through complicated options: thanks to the daily cap, the rate is automatically adapted to your use.
How to travel with multiple people?
You can travel with other people if you have one card or device (smartwatch or smartphone) per person.
Options
Contactless payment only works for journeys with STIB-MIVB. The following rates apply automatically depending on your use:

- 1 journey Airport2City
- 1 day
10-journey ticket on MOBIB card or smartphone
Staying in Brussels for a little longer or travelling with relatives? The 10-journey ticket is then the most convenient and affordable option.
When is this ticket right for you?
For trips lasting several days or weeks, for group or family travels, and for journeys involving different operators.
How to buy it?
Prefer using a physical card to validate your journeys? Buy a MOBIB card and load your tickets online, at a KIOSK or BOOTIK, or on a red vending machine.
Prefer everything on your smartphone and no MOBIB card fee? Buy your digital tickets directly in the the STIB-MIVB app.
Advantages
You save money compared to multiple 1-journey tickets. Your tickets are also valid on SNCB-NMBS trains and De Lijn and TEC buses in and around Brussels.
How to travel with other people?
Just tap your MOBIB card multiple times on a red validating machine or activate multiple journeys on the app.
Options
Tickets on the STIB-MIVB app and on MOBIB cards can be used for travelling with STIB-MIVB, SNCB-NMBS, De Lijn and LETEC. You have several options:
- Brupass (within Brussels)
- Brupass XL (around Brussels)
- Airport2City (only on MOBIB)
Paper ticket
Don’t have a smartphone, a contactless bank card or a MOBIB card? The paper ticket might be just what you need.
When is this ticket right for you?
For single journeys, family trips or for day trips.
How to buy it?
You can buy paper tickets at a KIOSK or BOOTIK or at a vending machine. It is not possible to buy a paper ticket on board a vehicle.
Advantages
Paper tickets can be bought by cash. They can also complement contactless payment if you don’t have enough bank cards for the people travelling with you.
How to travel with other people?
You have to buy one paper ticket per person and validate each ticket on a red validating machine.
Options
Paper tickets are only valid for journeys with STIB-MIVB. You can choose between these options:
