How does it benefit you?
If you live outside Brussels:
With Brupass XL, you only need one ticket to travel in Brussels and in an extended area of 11,5 km around the city center. For instance, if you live in Grand-Bigard/Groot-Bijgaarden and work in Brussels, you can take the train and the metro with your Brupass XL.
The Brupass XL product range includes single and multiple fares (e.g.: Brupass XL 1 journey) or season tickets options (e.g.: Brupass XL 1 month).
What is the Brupass XL zone?
It is an extended zone of 11,5 km around Brussels, which includes some municipalities of the Flemish Brabant that are served by the SNCB-NMBS, TEC and De Lijn. This zone includes 17 train stations and almost 200 bus stops of TEC and De Lijn. Our map will allow you to have a clear view of the zone and to know whether it includes your station or bus stop.

The various Brupass and Brupass XL products are added to the classic tariff range of the four operators. The Brupass and Brupass XL tickets will be accessible via their respective sales channels, with the exception of the Brupass school ticket, which is sold exclusively by STIB, and the Brupass XL 1 and 10 trip tickets, which will not be sold by De Lijn.
Exception:
Do you want to combine a Brupass ticket and a Brupass XL ticket? In that case, you might want to use a second MOBIB Basic card in order to make a clear distinction between both zones. Since it is not possible to know your destination, using a second card (MOBIB Basic) will always allow you to always validate the right ticket. This is only the case if you wish to have both Brupass and Brupass XL tickets simultaneously on your card.
*Prices for STIB 1 month (€52) and STIB 12 months (€520) are unchanged.
Why these changes?
Two good reasons:
- To allow an easier shift between public transport operators. A single Brupass XL ticket will allow you to take your train or bus to Brussels and then take the metro or tram, for instance.
- To make your life easier by grouping all the interoperable tickets valid in Brussels under a single, simplified and clearer name: Brupass.
Where should you validate?
For STIB-MIVB, De Lijn and TEC, you simply have to validate your MOBIB card on the validating machines located in the stations and vehicles.
If you use a Brupass ticket to travel by train with SNCB-NMBS, you will need to validate your MOBIB card on an SNCB-NMBS vending machine by selecting “Validation Brupass” before boarding. If you have a Brupass season ticket, you only need to show your MOBIB card to the train attendant.
