The MOBIB card offers various benefits:

The personal MOBIB card and the MOBIB basic card

What’s the difference between both cards?

• The personal MOBIB card carries your name. You are the sole owner of this card since it carries your name, first name, birth date, and photo. You can load tickets and season tickets onto it. Good to know: you can also validate this card for your fellow travellers.
• The MOBIB basic card, on the other hand, is a reloadable, anonymous card that only holds tickets. The benefit: you are free to lend it to other people. That’s why it’s ideal for outings with your youth group, team building events with your company or the nights out with your friends.

Where can I purchase my MOBIB card?

You can get a reloadable MOBIB card for €6. It remains valid for 5 years. You have 2 options to obtain your personal MOBIB card:

1. At one of the 5 BOOTIK sales outlets
2. Online

 You have 3 options to obtain your MOBIB basic card:

1. At one of the 5 BOOTIK sales outlets
2. At a KIOSK
3. At the red GO vending machine.

How can I load and reload my MOBIB card?

Do you want to load new journeys on your card or are all your journeys used up? You can (re)load your MOBIB card online, at our sales channels or via the STIB-MIVB app:

• Via a GO vending machine: place your card on the card reader and follow the instructions on the screen.
• Online via our website.
• Via the STIB-MIVB mobile app: under the tab ‘Tickets’, you can purchase tickets but not season tickets. The tickets will be loaded onto your MOBIB card once you scan it at a GO vending machine or validator.
• At a BOOTIK or KIOSK: you give your MOBIB card to the sales agent.

Your journeys remain valid up to 18 months after purchase. You can check your MOBIB card balance or the expiry date of your season ticket via a GO vending machine, a MOBIB validator, the STIB-MIVB app, or online.

Where can I validate my MOBIB card?

Your MOBIB card is valid as a transport ticket as soon as you validate it on a red validator. These are located on each tram, bus and (pre)metro station. Validate your MOBIB card when you board a vehicle or enter a metro station and when you change lines. Even if the gates are open.

There are 3 validation options:

• Do you hear a beep? Do you see a “v” on the screen and a green indicator lighting up? Then your card has been successfully validated. 
• Do you see a symbol “no entry” or a cross on a red background on the screen and a red indicator lighting up? Then your card has not been validated.
• Are you changing lines? Hold your card in front of the validator again. The word “Connection” appears on the screen. Make sure you always have enough journeys on your card!

Where can I renew my MOBIB card?

A MOBIB card is valid for 5 years. Is your card about to expire? Remember to renew it in good time.

Do you have a personal MOBIB card? You can then easily transfer all your tickets on your new card. You have 2 options:

1. As long as your card is still valid, you can request a new one on our website.
2. You can get your new MOBIB card in the BOOTIK or KIOSK sales outlets. Remember to bring your old card to transfer the tickets on your new card.

The new card will cost you €6 and is valid for 5 years.

A MOBIB basic card is anonymous, so you can’t transfer its content. As long as your tickets are still valid, you can still use the card. Have you used up all your tickets and is your card about to expire? You can then buy a new card for €6.
