Open Construction Site Day

Sunday, 25 May, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The construction site of the Central Station welcomes you on Sunday, 25 May, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Modernisation and expansion of the station

Brussels Mobility, Beliris, and STIB-MIVB are renovating the oldest station of the network and extending the existing station by 3,500 m², under rue Ravenstein/Ravensteinstraat.

This large-scale project will provide you with more comfort and an increased accessibility.

Dive into the discovery of these new spaces with a short 15-minute self-guided visit, with various information stands.

A complete renovation

The Central Station, which is located at the heart of Brussels, is one of the oldest metro stations in the city.
The complete renovation aims to provide you with more comfort. It includes the creation of new spaces, the renewal of the finishings, and the improvement of accessibility for people with reduced mobility.
Thanks to the various applied techniques, a major underground extension has already been excavated, all the while keeping the station open and maintaining the aboveground traffic.

Discover the works!

Are you curious to know what the future station will look like? In that case, come discover the plans, panels, and models present. We will also reveal some secrets about the special techniques used in the metro spaces.

Are you a fan of engineering? You will appreciate the Stross method, a technique that combines drilling, metal reinforcements, and reinforced concrete columns. The roof slab is then poured directly on the ground so that the new space can be created by digging under the structure.
