Parc/Park station
Parc/Park metro station gets a makeover
Ten brand-new lifts now provide step-free access throughout both stations.
Parc/Park
Parc/Park metro station now welcomes passengers in a fully renovated and accessible environment. Since 6 June 2025, 4 new lifts and 7 escalators have been in service. This brings the total to 57 accessible stations out of 69 on the STIB network, offering step-free travel from street level to the platforms.
Final touch-ups will continue until the autumn.
A renovated and more accessible station
The renovation project is being carried out in three main phases:
Phase 1 (completed end 2021)
- Installation of a first elevator connecting the street level to the station.
- A new emergency exit from the platforms to the Warandepark /Parc de Bruxelles.
Phase 2 (nearing completion – late 2022 → autumn 2025)
- Installation of 3 additional lifts (4 in total) and 7 new escalators.
- Renewal of floors, walls and ceilings, upgrade of lighting, speakers, furniture and signage.
- Integration of the artwork “Mers et Océans” by Marie-Françoise Plissart.
Phase 3 (study under way – 2027 → 2030)
- Creation of a new entrance on Warandeberg /Montagne du Parc to boost evacuation capacity and further improve accessibility – and thus attractiveness – of the station.
Safety First
The emergency exit built in Phase 1 links the platforms directly to Warandepark/Parc de Bruxelles, ensuring swift evacuation when required.
Redefined Accessibility
- 4 lifts now connect every level, from Koningsstraat/Rue Royale to both platforms.
- 7 escalators make movement inside the station smoother than ever.
- New tactile paving and updated signage will be finished by the autumn.
Comfort and Convenience: Public Restrooms
Public restrooms will open soon as part of Phase 2, adding extra comfort to every journey.
Modernity, Efficiency, Sustainability, and Artistic Expression
The Region is completely renewing finishes and technical installations to keep them reliable and energy-efficient for years to come. Additionally, this project includes the decommissioning of all obsolete cables in the station. The project also champions art and culture: the new piece “Mers et Océans” brightens the station, while existing artworks are being restored.
