Westland Moortebeek
Redevelopment of stops and terminuses
New electric bus terminuses at Westland Shopping and Moortebeek
By 2025, lines 89, 46 and 53 will be partially equipped with articulated electric buses. To ensure that these vehicles have sufficient autonomy, it is essential to install bus recharging zones at the terminuses on Boulevard Joseph Bracops/Joseph Bracopslaan. Installing these facilities will provide an opportunity to redevelop the areas around the stops and the affected roadways to improve the passenger experience.
Westland Shopping (see map)
- Redevelopment of the stops and terminuses of bus lines 46, 53 and 89 at the beginning of Boulevard Joseph Bracops/Joseph Bracopslaan. The pedestrian walkway will be renovated and made safer, whilst buses will be made more accessible to people with reduced mobility. The 75 bus stop on Boulevard Sylvain Dupuis/Sylvain Dupuislaan will also be renovated.
- Three new bus parking spaces will be created on the Ring side of Boulevard Joseph Bracops/Joseph Bracopslaan, 2 of which will be for electric recharging. A further 3 spaces will be created in the loop next to the boulevard, 2 of which will be for electric recharging. No passengers will be boarded or disembarked in this loop, which will be used solely for recharging the bus batteries.
- Renewal of the entire roadway, including the pavements and cycle path. The latter will be moved further into the embankment along the Ring to accommodate the new bus parking area and a power supply substation for all the recharging zones. A retaining wall will have to be built to secure the embankment.
