Every student between 12 and 24 years old enrolled in daytime (at least 20h/4 days a week) or night-time (at least 9h/3 days a week) educational systems in a school establishment in the European Union.
Warning: students between 18 and 24 years old must send an original school attendance certificate dated with the current school/academic year to STIB. You can send your school certificate through our platform school.stib-mivb.be.
The certificate must be dated with the current academic year. If dates limit the certificate, they prevail over the academic year. Warning: the year must be complete in order to be able to benefit from a preferential fare.
If you already benefit from a preferential fare (BIM, RIS), check the most advantageous formula for you.
How can one benefit from a reduced fare?
A reduced fare is allocated from the 3rd season ticket bought by one family under certain conditions.
- If several school season tickets must be bought by one family, the reduced fare is only possible if the family status is up to date. If you have not yet taken these steps, go to school.stib-mivb.be, complete the form (MOBIB card number (19 digits), first name and surname), tick the box "The number of children who can have a school season ticket at a reduced fare in my family has changed since my last purchase." and send us the form. The next day, you will be able to purchase your season ticket.
- The reduced fare does not depend on the age of the season ticket receivers but on the chronological order of purchase of the various season tickets;
- All season tickets must start at the same tariff period (from 1 February 2021 to 31 January 2022).

Update my family status?
When the number of children who can receive a school season ticket has changed, you must update your family status.
If you purchase a season ticket for the 1st time, your family status will be updated during your purchase with your eID card (in the BOOTIK or on GO EASY). To renew, just update your family status on school.stib.be.
E.g.: You have three children of respectively 11, 13 and 16 years old. Your children of 13 and 16 have bought a STIB school season ticket. The next year, your 3rd child is now 12 years old and receives a reduced fare, so you need to send us a family composition.
The validity of a MOBIB card?
From the moment it is issued, the MOBIB card is only valid for five years maximum.
In the event of a defective card which did not reach 5 years and does not bear any trace of physical deterioration (folded, split, etc.), we provide a free exchange. If the card is more than 5 years old, a new card is sold at the price of 5 euros.
My child had a J season ticket
The J season ticket (free STIB season ticket for children younger than 12 years old) of your child was loaded on a personal MOBIB card. To purchase a school season ticket, you simply need to load it on this MOBIB card. Thus, you do not have to purchase a new card.
A MOBIB card from another operator
You can load your school season ticket on every personal MOBIB card, including the MOBIB cards from the other Belgian operators. If you purchase your season ticket in a BOOTIK, it will immediately be loaded on your card.
If you purchase your season ticket online, you need to make STIB recognise your card first. How? Place your card on a GO vending machine.
Synthesis of the transport rules

The user must validate his transport ticket before any journey. At the above-ground stops, the transport ticket must be validated at each boarding or connection in a bus or tram. In the underground metro and premetro stations, the user must validate his transport ticket at the control zones. The user must present his transport ticket upon request of a member of STIB's control staff acting in the course of his duties.
