Vademecum stops
Why a Vademecum for surface stops?
In line with our desire to continually improve customer service, we want to improve the safety, comfort and accessibility of stops on the surface network. For over 20 years, in addition to network extension projects, we have been carrying out specific, one-off improvements to stops. Requirements are changing, so this work must be ongoing.
Overview
In the management contract that defines the mission entrusted to the STIB by the Region, it is stated that ‘Stops are an integral part of the public transport system. Their location and equipment, in particular waiting time announcements, have a major influence on the quality of the services offered to passengers, as well as their level of satisfaction’. It is very clearly asked to increase the proportion of ‘ideal’ stops, i.e. stops that comply with the standard plan, by reducing the proportion of basic stops (not accessible to all) or borderline stops (not safe for customers or vehicles).
Compliance with the standard plan makes it possible to :
- guarantee safety at stops, both in terms of access and in the waiting and boarding areas,
- ensure that all users have access, whatever their mobility (perfect integration of people with reduced mobility - design for all),
- provide an acceptable level of comfort (shelter, rubbish bin, seats).
By 2021, around 14% of these will have to be drastically improved. Naturally, we have continued our efforts to (re)design stops in collaboration with the various stakeholders. In order to promote the ideal layouts towards which we should be striving, we are making a whole series of documents available to you to describe them.
Please note that our PDF documents are currently only available in French.
