20km of Brussels

On Sunday 25 May 2025

After months and sometimes even years of training, the 20 km of Brussels are coming up, the event all sport fanatics have been waiting for all year. The event is held on Sunday 25 May. The race starts at Parc du Cinquantenaire / Jubelpark at 10AM and ends a few hours later at the same place, in front of the arcades.

To ensure the safety of all participants, certain tram and bus lines that cross the itinerary of the race are interrupted or diverted. You can find more information below.

Metro station Merode

The access to the station is modified from 8am to 6pm:

To enter the station,

  • before 11am, use accesses 2 or 3 (rue des Tongres / Tongerenstraat or avenue des Celtes / Keltenlaan side),
  • after 11am, use accesses 7 or 8 (SNCB / NMBS station side).

To exit the station,

  • before 11am, use accesses 7 or 8 (SNCB / NMBS station side),
  • after 11am, use access 3 (avenue des Celtes / Keltenlaan side)

Accesses 1 and 4 (Parc du Cinquantenaire / Jubelpark side) are closed from 8am to 6pm, access 2 (rue des Tongres / Tongerenstraat) is closed from 11am to 6pm.

It is possible to cross avenue de Tervueren / Tervurenlaan via accesses 7 and 8.

All the accesses are available after 6pm.

Do you have to use the lift ? Don’t worry! The lift to go to the metro station is still available for the persons with reduced mobility.

Interrupted tram lines

Tram 7

Until 3PM, tram 7 is interrupted between the stops Buyl and Vanderkindere. After Buyl, the trams continue as tram 25 to Boondael Gare / Boondaal Station.

A T-bus is operated between ULB and Vanderkindere via Buyl, place Flageyplein, chaussée de Vleurgatsesteenweg and avenue Winston Churchilllaan.

Tram 8, 25, 93

Until 3PM, tram 8 is interrupted between the stops Louise / Louiza and Buyl. As alternative, you can take tram 93 between Louise / Louiza and Legrand. Twice as many trams will operate on line 93.

To reach Buyl from avenue Louise / Louizalaan, take the T-bus at Vleurgat.

Until 5PM, tram 8 is interrupted between the stops Wiener and Musée du Tram / Trammuseum. Before 3PM, the trams coming from Wiener continue on line 25 to Rogier after the stop Buyl.

Tram 81

Until 6PM, tram 81 is interrupted between the stops Merode and Montgomery. Take metro 1 between those stops.

The stop Merode is moved to avenue des Celtes / Keltenlaan, right before the crossing with avenue de Tervueren / Tervurenlaan.

T-bus 44

Until 5pm, T-bus 44 is operated only between Musée du Tram / Trammuseum and Tervuren Station.

The section between Montgomery and Musée du Tram / Trammuseum is still served by tram 39.

Diverted bus lines

Bus 12

Until 1.30PM, bus 12 is limited to Maelbeek / Maalbeek. To travel to Trône / Troon, take metro 1-5 to Arts-Loi / Kunst-Wet, then metro 2-6.

Bus 17

Until 4PM, bus 17 is interrupted between the stops Les Trois Tilleuls / Drie Linden and Heiligenborre.

Bus 21

Until 1.30PM, bus 21 is limited to the stop Maelbeek / Maalbeek.

Bus 27

Until 6PM, bus 27 is interrupted between the stops Meudon and Luxembourg / Luxemburg.

After the stop Meudon, the buses are diverted to metro station Gribaumont and Tomberg.

  • The stop Tomberg direction Pléiades/Plejaden is located on place Tombergplein, in front of number 127.
  • The stop Gribaumont direction Pléiades / Plejaden is ensuredin the avenue de Broquevillelaan, before the crossing with avenue du Roi Chevalier / Ridder Koninglaan.
  • The stop Meudon direction Pléiades / Plejaden is moved to avenue du Roi Chevalier / Ridder Koninglaan nr. 56.

Bus 33

Until 2PM, bus 33 is interrupted between the stops Grand Sablon/Grote Zavel and Louise/Louiza.

Bus 34

Until 4.30PM, bus 34 is interrupted between the stops Eglise Saint-Julien/Sint-Juliaanskerk and Sainte-Anne / Sint-Anna.

After the stop Eglise Saint-Julien / Sint-Juliaanskerk, the buses are diverted to Herrmann-Debroux via the boulevard des Invalides / Invalidenlaan. The stops of bus 72 are served.

The stop Herrmann-Debroux is situated: avenue Herrmann-Debrouxlaan, before the crossing with the boulevard du Souverain/Vorstlaan.

Bus 36

  • Until 12.30PM, bus 36 is interrupted between the stops Louis Hap and Schuman.

In the direction of Konkel, the stop Louis Hap is avenue d’Auderghem / Oudergemselaan nr. 228.

  • Until 5PM, bus 36 is interrupted between Chant d’Oiseau / Vogelzang and Musée du Tram/Trammuseum.

The stop Musée du Tram/Trammuseum direction Konkel is made at the stop of bus N06 (right after the stop of tram 39 and 44 direction Montgomery).

The stop Mertens and Kelle direction Konkel are not served.

The stop Mareyde direction Konkel is moved to rue au Bois no. 199.

After the stop Konkel, bus 36 continues on line 28 to Brabançonne.

Bus 38

Until 1.30PM, bus 38 is interrupted between the stops Trône / Troon and Gare Centrale / Centraal Station. After the stop Trône / Troon, the buses are diverted to Porte de Namur / Naamsepoort.

Bus 41

Until 3.30PM,

  • Bus 41 is interrupted between the stops Transvaal and Herrmann-Debroux.

The stop Herrmann-Debroux is moved to the avenue Herrmann-Debrouxlaan, right after the crossing with the boulevard du Souverain / Vorstlaan.

  • Bus 41 is interrupted between the stops Brésil / Brazilië and Hôpital Sainte-Elisabeth / Sint-Elisabeth-ziekenhuis. After the stop Brésil / Brazilië, the buses are diverted to the stop ULB of bus 72. 

From 3.30pm to 8pm, bus 41 is diverted between the stops Brésil / Brazilië and Hôpital Sainte-Elisabeth / Sint-Elisabeth-Ziekenhuis via ULB.

Bus 54

Until 1.30PM, bus 54 is diverted from Trône / Troon to Luxembourg / Luxemburg. The stops Trône / Troon have moved in the rue du Luxembourg / Luxemburgstraat.

Bus 59

Until 1.30PM, bus 59 is interrupted between the stops Maelbeek / Maalbeek and Jourdan-Etangs / Vijvers.

The stop Jourdan direction Hôpital Etterbeek-Ixelles/Ziekenhuis Etterbeek-Elsene is moved to the stop Etangs / Vijvers of bus 34 direction Porte de Namur / Naamsepoort.

Bus 60

Until 1.30PM, bus 60 is interrupted between the stops Ambiorix and Jourdan-Etangs / Vijvers.

The stop Jourdan direction Uccle Calevoet / Ukkel Kalevoet is moved to the stop Etangs / Vijvers of bus 34 direction Porte de Namur / Naamsepoort.

Bus 61

Until 6PM, bus 61 is interrupted between the stops Chasseurs Ardennais / Ardense Jagers and Montgomery.

After the stop Chasseurs Ardennais / Ardense Jagers, the buses are diverted to metro station Maelbeek / Maalbeek via the stops Gueux / Geuzen, Michel-Ange / Michelangelo and Schuman of bus 21 and the stop Marie-Louise / Maria-Louiza of bus 64.

Bus 64

Until 1.30PM, bus 64 is interrupted between the stops Maelbeek / Maalbeek and Porte de Namur / Naamsepoort.

Bus 71

Until 1.30PM, bus 71 is interrupted between the stops Porte de Namur / Naamsepoort and De Brouckère.

Bus 72

Until 4.30PM, bus 72 is not operated. The stops between Clesse and Herrmann-Debroux are served by the diverted bus line 34.

Bus 80

Until 4.30PM, bus 80 is interrupted between the stops Meudon and Porte de Namur / Naamsepoort.

After the stop Meudon, the buses are diverted to metro station Gribaumont and Tomberg.

  • The stop Tomberg direction Haren is located at place du Tomberg / Tombergplein, in front of number 127.
  • The stop Gribaumont direction Haren is located in the avenue de Broquevillelaan, before the crossing with avenue du Roi Chevalier / Ridder Koninglaan.
  • The stop Meudon direction Haren is moved to avenue du Roi Chevalier / Ridder Koninglaan nr. 56.

Bus 95

Until 1.30PM, bus 95 is interrupted between the stops Trône / Troon and Grand-Place / Grote Markt. After the stop Trône / Troon, the buses are diverted to Porte de Namur / Naamsepoort.

Until 4PM, bus 95 is interrupted between the stops Les Trois Tilleuls / Drie Linden and Wiener.
