Avenue de Tervueren/Tervurenlaan

Replacement of tram tracks on avenue de Tervueren/Tervurenlaan

The STIB-MIVB network includes almost 300 km of tram tracks across Brussels. To ensure a constant high-quality service, several kilometres of tram tracks are renewed each year. Over the course of 2024 and 2025, a great deal of the tracks on the Avenue de Tervueren/Tervurenlaan will be renewed, namely the area between the Tram Museum and Tervuren Station, the terminus. As part of the project, several tram stops will also be redesigned. For organisational purposes, the project has been divided into 4 phases.

Currently, STIB-MIVB is carrying out the renewal in the area from Quatre Bras/Vier Armen to the terminus, Tervuren Station (1). Three other work phases on other sections of the avenue are also planned for 2024 and 2025:

  • The entrance tram tracks of the Tram Museum (2) will be renewed from June to August 2024.
  • The complete renewal of the tracks in the area between the Boulevard du Souverain/Vorstlaan and the Madoux stop (3) is scheduled from June to September 2024, to benefit from the summer season and reduced congestion.
  • And lastly, repairs will be carried out on the section between the Madoux stop and Quatre Bras/Vier Armen (4) from September 2024 to May 2025 included.

This planning may be adjusted as a result of unknown factors.

Impact on mobility

For the time being, there should be no major disruption to car traffic. However, depending on the work area, traffic could be diverted or restricted to one lane along the construction sites.

Public transportation organisation

The project will have an impact on tram lines 8, 39 and 44 and bus line 36.

From June 2024 and throughout the summer, tram line 8 will be operating between Roodebeek and the Tram Museum on one side, and between Herrmann-Debroux and Louise/Louiza on the other. A shuttle tram will be operating between the Blvd du Souverain/Vorstlaan - Av de Tervueren/Tervurenlaan intersection and Herrmann-Debroux.

From June 2024 to September 2025 included, tram lines 39 and 44 will be limited to the Tram Museum and will then be replaced by shuttle buses to Ban-Eik and Tervuren Station.

Between September 2024 and May 2025 included, only tram line 44 will stop at the Tram Museum. A Une shuttle bus will go to Tervuren Station.

The stops of bus line 36 near the Tram Museum will be relocated.
