Redevelopment works on rue du Bourdon/Horzelstraat

From 30 June to 29 August 2025

STIB-MIVB is upgrading the pavements and bus stops on rue du Bourdon/Horzelstraat to improve comfort and safety, especially for schoolchildren near the bus stop area.

The following information covers the impact of the works on residents, businesses, and traffic in Brussels. Looking for details about how this affects your journey? More information further down on this page.

Works to improve comfort

Redevelopment works are taking place between rue du Château d’Or/Gulden Kasteelstraat and number 36 on rue du Bourdon.

The project includes upgrading the bus stops and pavements, widening the junction and resurfacing the road to offer more comfort and improved accessibility for everyone.

The "Bourdon/Horzel" bus stops will be brought up to accessibility standards, with special attention for people with reduced mobility and schoolchildren.

Work schedule

The works will take place in three phases:

  • 30/06 to 25/07 widening of the junction and renovation of the pavement on the even-numbered side
  • 28/07 to 22/08: renovation of the pavement on the odd-numbered side
  • 18/08 to 29/08: resurfacing of the road

Please note: this schedule is indicative and may be subject to slight changes.

Impact on traffic

During the works, car traffic will be diverted via chaussée d’Alsemberg/Alsembergsesteenweg, rue de la Brasserie/Brouwerijstraat and rue de la Station/Stationsstraat.

In phase 1 (late June to late July), exiting rue du Bourdon/Horzelstraat towards rue du Château d’Or/Gulden Kasteelstraat remains possible via a single lane. Pedestrians and cyclists can move around normally.

In phases 2 and 3 (late July to late August), the area will be completely closed to car traffic. Rue du Bourdon will be blocked off at the worksite. Pedestrians and cyclists can access both sides of the area but can't cross the construction site.

No parking is allowed in and around the worksite.
