Rue des Palais/Paleizenstraat and rue Rogier/Rogierstraat

Tram track renewal

From 16 June to 31 August 2025, tram track renewal works will take place between rue Rogier/Rogierstraat (including the junction) and rue de la Marne/Marnestraat (not included). The project will start with Vivaqua relocating its water pipes.

Below is key information about the impact of the works on residents, local businesses, and mobility in Brussels.

Type of work

STIB-MIVB operates a tram network of nearly 300 km across Brussels. Over time, the infrastructure wears out, and rails deteriorate. To ensure a high-quality service, STIB-MIVB renews several kilometres of tracks every year.

The upcoming works on rue des Palais/Paleizenstraat aim to completely renew the tram tracks, ensuring passenger safety, improving on-board comfort, and allowing smoother and quieter tram travel. By replacing the outdated infrastructure with a modern and sustainable system, STIB-MIVB is investing in the mobility of tomorrow.

Planned Timeline

  • Monday 16 June 2025: Vivaqua begins relocating water pipes
  • Monday 14 July to Sunday 31 August 2025: STIB-MIVB renews the tram tracks

Traffic and public transport

During the works, rue des Palais/Paleizenstraat will be closed to traffic between rue Rogier/Rogierstraat and rue de la Marne/Marnestraat. Diversions will be in place—road users are asked to follow local signage.

Sidewalks will remain accessible for pedestrians, though the area will be significantly altered to allow for work on tracks and pipes.

Public transport services will be disrupted on lines 14, 25, 62, 92 and 93. Please check the STIB-MIVB website, app, or nearby stops for full details on the rerouted lines.

Waste collection points

Temporary waste drop-off points will be available throughout the works. Please refer to the map to find your designated area (only in French and Dutch).
