What are your rights?

Entrusting us with your data does not mean that you lose control of it. You have the following rights, under the conditions set out in the GDPR.

The right of access

This right allows you to obtain confirmation that your data is being processed by STIB-MIVB and full information on the processing operations carried out. You also have the right to obtain a copy of your data, provided that this does not infringe the rights and freedoms of others. 

  • The right to rectification

You have the right to have your data corrected if it is inaccurate. To ensure that we can keep your data up to date, we ask you to contact our customer service team if your personal details change, for example if you move or change your email address. Our customer service team is available by telephone, or by email using the contact form.

  • The right to erasure (right to be forgotten)

You have the right to have your personal data deleted in the following cases:

  1. Your personal data is no longer necessary for the purposes for which it was collected or otherwise processed by STIB-MIVB ;
  2. You withdraw your consent to the processing of your personal data by STIB-MIVB ;
  3. Yyou object to the processing of your personal data and there are no more important, legitimate grounds for the processing/continuation of the processing by STIB-MIVB ;
  4. Your personal data has been processed unlawfully ; 
  5. Your personal data must be deleted to comply with a legal obligation.
  • The right to object

You always have the right to object, without having to give any reason, to the use of your personal data for direct marketing purposes.

You have the right, depending on your particular situation, to object to the processing of your personal data, if the processing is based on the legitimate interests of STIB-MIVB or its public interest mission, unless STIB-MIVB can demonstrate that there are compelling legitimate grounds for the processing which override your interests, rights or freedoms or for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims.

  • The right to restriction of processing

In certain cases, you have the right to ask us to limit your data, i.e. for your data to be temporarily frozen by STIB-MIVB.

  • The right to data portability

Under certain conditions, you have the right to receive a copy of the data you have communicated to STIB-MIVB in a structured, machine-readable format and you have the right to transmit this data to another data controller.

  • Exercising your rights

You can use our contact form “Privacy" or contact us by email at DPO@stib-mivb.brussels, stating which rights you wish to exercise.

We will need to identify you unambiguously. If the email address with which you contact us is not known by our systems, we will also need proof of your identity (copy of identity card). This information is necessary to prevent us from disclosing your details to other people.

In accordance with privacy regulations, your request will be processed within thirty days from the time we are in possession of all the information required to process your request. If your request is complex, this period may be extended by a maximum of two months, but we will inform you of this beforehand.

STIB-MIVB may charge a reasonable fee to cover its administrative costs for any copies you request.

  • Appeal to the supervisory authority

You also have the right to appeal to the Data Protection Authority at Rue de la Presse/Drukpersstraat 35, 1000 Brussels, or by email via contact@apd-gba.be.
