Transparency report, functioning, organisation and competences of the STIB-MIVB
This page gathers various information about the STIB-MIVB and its functioning, in accordance with the provisions of the joint Decree and Ordinance of the Brussels-Capital Region, the Joint Community Commission and the French Community Commission with regard to the publicity of administration in institutions of the Brussels-Capital Region of 16 May 2019. The STIB-MIVB also publishes an annual transparency report.
Founded in 1954, the STIB-MIVB organises public transport in the Brussels-Capital Region. Each day, some 1,300 vehicles serve the 19 municipalities of the Brussels-Capital Region, as well as 11 municipalities in the periphery. The STIB-MIVB covers an area of 241.5 km². The STIB-MIVB provides transport for a population of more than 1,200,000 inhabitants, plus thousands of commuters.
STIB-MIVB has adopted an organisational and working model allowing it to guarantee its services effectiveness and to better address the present and future challenges. This governance relies on an organisational structure consisting of a first level of 5 divisions reporting to Senior Vice Presidents. The divisions represent key areas of success specific to STIB-MIVB:
"Operations" adopts the role of operator and advisor for network development
"Transport Systems" brings all the technical and IT functions together
"Sales, Marketing & Network" defines and promotes the transport services in order to enhance customer service
"Finance & Services" provides budget, purchases and buildings management, logistic support and legal expertise
"Human Resources" defines and implements the recruitment strategy and promotes continuous improvement in employees' work
The five Senior Vice Presidents and the General management are represented on the Executive Committee, which is competent to make strategic decisions on corporate level. This approach has been introduced within the Divisions where the decision-making body is the Management Committee.
STIB-MIVB also has the following management bodies:
The Management Committee has executive powers within the company's management. Permanent staff representatives have an advisory role.
The Board of Directors is amongst other things entrusted with adopting the company's budget and concluding the management contract with the regional government, as well as approving collective bargaining agreements negotiated by the CEO. It is composed of 19 members appointed by the regional government of the Brussels-Capital Region. The Board of Directors also includes government officials and representatives from Brussels municipalities. Permanent staff representatives have an advisory role.

Each year, the STIB-MIVB publishes a financial report. In addition to its statutory annual accounts in accordance with Belgian accounting law and the Companies and Associations Code, the company also presents operating and investment accounts breaking down expenses and income according to their purpose. You can also consult the list of subsidies granted.
In 2021, the STIB-MIVB did not carry out any studies within the meaning of the ordinance of 16 May 2019.
STIB-MIVB has a dedicated website jobs.stib-mivb.be, which lists all the vacancies open to external candidates and all the practical information needed to apply for a job at the STIB-MIVB.
