Checkout installation
STIB/MIVB has launched the gradual installation of the "checkout" system on its entire metro network. As from now, each traveller will also have to validate to leave a metro station, just as is already the case for the premetro stations. The first metro stations will be equipped as from 17 November. The checkout will be installed in about 15 stations by the end of the year and this installation will continue in 2019.

What are the features of the checkout?
The validation for leaving the station is a significant measure in combating fraud and it will rise the validation level. This allows us also to secure our stations and to make sure all the travellers who are located in the so-called "controlled zone" are there to travel with the public transportation.
Validate to leave the metro station
For the travellers who do not have a season ticket, each line or vehicle change made within the hour after the first validation is considered as a connection. During this hour, no new journey will be validated. You can end your journey at ease, because you have two hours after the first validation to leave the controlled zone.
What if I have a problem?
For any technical problem with leaving the station or if you have lost your ticket, you can use the contact button in the adapted lock to contact our dispatching colleagues. They will take the necessary steps to help you. The activation of the validators to leave the metro station will be accompanied by an increased presence of agents in the concerned stations.
