SOME CULTURE...

SCHUMAN | 2019

As a Doctor of Philosophy and the Social Sciences, Philippe Van Parijs is also an engaged Brussels citizen.  Through a series of carefully selected elements and images, this resident of the European quarter seeks to help both Brussels residents and visitors understand how a combination of chance and necessity gradually resulted in Brussels becoming the capital of the European Union and the area around the Schuman roundabout, his European quarter. The frieze, installed on the platform of the metro station (lines 1-5), is acompletely redesigned version of the one on platform 2 of the SNCB.
